I'm Keisha Johnson, the owner and creator of Southern Girl Pralines. I’m a social worker and have a heart for people and helping them find fulfilling results in their lives. The spirit of Southern hospitality I grew up with in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, connects my passion for helping others and always being willing to share. Pralines, or as we call it, pecan candy, is a delicacy that we grew up  loving to eat, prepare, and share with each other. I am married to a Louisiana native whose mother is well known for her cooking. Not only did I fall in love with her son but her pecan candy as well. She would always make them for me when I would visit. One day, I asked for the recipe and started making it for family, friends, and for my kids’ teachers as gifts. They would always say, "This is delicious! You need to sell it!" 

Well here I am, selling it. Since the successful launch of my business, I have begun offering a variety of flavors to include coconut, rum, pound cake, chocolate, and almond, and I expect to add additional flavors in the future.   It means everything to me to know that people enjoy my pralines while being reminded of home or starting new traditions of sharing. While it takes a lot of work to make it, I enjoy it immensely. 

Because I’m a spiritual person and always strive to operate in my purpose, I have to pinch myself sometimes because I would have never thought God would have opened this particular door for me. When I tell you, I’m loving it! While my first love will always be social work, God is still allowing me to engage, empower, and inspire others while sharing the Southern goodness of my pralines with them, which are homemade with love. My prayer is that God will allow others to see my heart first while enjoying the delicacy. I sincerely hope that my pralines will be one of your new comfort foods and a staple in your giving traditions.
